After receiving an electrical engineering degree from MIT and spending four formative years with an instrument division at Hewlett Packard, Jim Pollock has been involved in several early stage technology companies including three startups of his own.  His passion has always been innovative product design that changes the way people do business.  Jim has spent the last 8 years in global data analytics solutions for agriculture.

Jim was the engineering manager and marketing director for Structural Measurement Systems in Silicon Valley, an HP software spinoff which was later acquired by publicly held GenRad. He was then the marketing manager for Real-Time CASE tools for Santa Clara’s Integrated Systems which merged with Wind River Systems followed by an IPO. Jim was the Director of Marketing for Software & Systems at Ohio-based IRD Mechanalysis which was acquired by a competitor. He then co-founded two electronic-learning startup companies: one was acquired, and the other a “learning experience”.

Leveraging his startup experience, Jim was the director of CTEK, the Colorado Technology Incubator in Boulder where he shared his entrepreneurial experiences with early stage startups surrounding them with mentors, honing their business model, and preparing them to approach investors.  Jim joined aWhere in April 2007 where he led product strategy for the development of a global high resolution weather database providing field level weather, crop and pest information for commercial farmers in North and South America and by text messaging to thousands of small holder farmers in Africa and South Asia.
